Tony Abbott's grip on the prime ministership could again come under question from colleagues as the governments support drifts away with Australians signalling they have not been convinced by his promise of dull and routine second budget next month despite having fairness at its core. It comes as voters show they are warming to an increase in the 10 per cent goods and services tax to help balance the budget despite neither major party advocating it with now more than a third of respondents at 37 per cent saying they support an increase.
